Since drug addiction is so often attributed to poverty and lack of social services why do many poor populaces like in Egypt, Iraq, and China not suffer from the same degree as inner-city regions in the USA or Russia?

They don’t. Their addictions are under-reported due to a lack of services and widespread intimidation directed against drug addicts.

Egypt and Iraq are an easy answer. Egypt is a Muslim county and for the most part Iraq is largely Muslim. A good Muslim following the Koran doesn’t use drugs.

China I believe it has to do with the oppressive Communist government where they want the populace to look on the Government as their caretaker.

bc they are more violent with their punishments than we r. we just give’em probation. they beat them like the trash they r.

If you are caught using any illegal drugs in a muslim country, you will be thrown into a terrible prison.
Or get you hand cut-off, or get stones thrown at you until you’re dead. In the u.s. the punishment is a slap on the wrist in comparison.
