Lakeview Health Holdings to Open Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Treatment Program for Spanish Speaking
Saint Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) November 30, 2005
On December 3rd and 4th, 2005, Lakeview Health Holdings will host a two-day workshop in Miami, FL with addiction, psychology, psychiatry and counseling professionals from Latin America and the United States. The objective of this workshop is to discuss the details and explore different points of view for the proposed project for Costa Esperanza, its new drug addiction treatment program targeting the Spanish speaking population.
Substance abuse and addiction is a growing problem within the United States and all around the world. There are many privately owned and state funded programs that treat addiction, but too few which have been especially designed and customized to treat a growing segment of the American population: Spanish speaking addicts and alcoholics. There are over 40 million Hispanics living among the United States population (U.S. Census Bureau). According to Mr. Gean Biffulco, Lakeview’s Corporate Information Officer, “It is imperative that the mental health industry realizes that the recovery rates of addiction treatment would improve for this particular population if the existent programs were adjusted to the particular needs of Spanish speaking patients, including the language used during their stay in treatment.”
Lakeview Health Holdings is an investment organization which owns prestigious treatment programs and other healthcare services. Their approach for substance abuse and addiction is based on modern medical and clinical models accompanied with the traditional 12 step groups and individual therapy. Costa Esperanza, a Spanish Treatment Program for Alcoholism and Addiction is based on the success of their treatment philosophy and the satisfaction of patients and families that have had previous experiences with traditional programs. However, this new program will be focusing on the Spanish speaking population in the US and in Latin America.
Besides treating the Hispanic population in the U.S, Costa Esperanza has other major goals: to export its treatment model into Latin America by training Latin American professionals under its philosophy; and to open the opportunity for Latin American addicts to participate in the program and then share their recovering experience back home.
The location of the Costa Esperanza addiction treatment program is still under discussion: it could be a new facility in the beautiful city of Miami or next to an existing recovery campus located in the peaceful city of Jacksonville which is set for expansion in 2006. Either way, Costa Esperanza is poised to become not only one of the most complete and effective addiction treatment centers in the Americas, but also one with the most appealing facilities for the Spanish Speaking.
