Why Do People Feel Sorry for Old People Who Have No Money and Depend on Government?

Question by Southern Johnny: Why do people feel sorry for old people who have no money and depend on government?
I am tired of people just looking at old people and not realizing that they were young once and in their younger years they squandered their money. Social Security and Medicare are going to destroy this country and there will be a much lower standard of living for the younger people coming up. These programs need to be eliminated, but you hear about how these people “depend” on these programs. If you would look back and see how much these people spent on cigarettes, alcohol, buying things they couldn’t afford, etc., you would not feel sorry for them.
Here are two things that have been known for a long time:
1. You will get old one day.
2. Politicians over-promise and under-deliver.

These two things alone tell you not to depend on government, meaning younger taxpayers who will have much less money to enjoy their life because they are forced to pay for others that “had a great time” and now depend on them.

This is nothing short of criminal.
I hear people saying that they just want their money back, well the way it works is you get money until you die, that can be much more than you put in.

Oh yeah, and I hear the personal attacks, those always come from people who hold indefensible positions.
Like the guy who somehow knows how I was raised and how much I respect people.

remember that when your retired and have to pay for operations. money is there for spending, not hoarding. and unless they had an excessivly successful life, there savings wont last long without an income. i know i will get old one day,and i hope the government wont turn there back on me when things start getting bad. oh and those criminals lived through nightmares you could never even imagine
