Q&A: Binge Drinking and Depression?
Question by prettyteacup23: Binge Drinking and Depression?
Over two years ago, I had what they call “clinical depression”. I was 19 and my parents seperated. Soon afterwards, I underwent a personality crisis, drug and alcohol problem, eating disorder, and overall identity crisis. Anyways, it’s been two years and I’ve fixed a lot of those problems.
A month or two ago, a load of hurtful things happened in my life. I’ve noticed that my binge drinking increased to thursdays, fridays and saturdays; every weekend for a month and half. I truly believed nothing was wrong with me—that there was no depressive disorder, despite never being accused of being depressive but rather just an alcoholic.
I got a cold over the weekend that forced me to cease drinking. Now that I’m off the booze and sober for over a week, I get increasingly sad.
Am I lying to myself and am in the midst of a depression?
