Do You Think Psychiatry Has Gone Too Far With Pills?
Question by wcarolinew: do you think psychiatry has gone too far with pills?
i move around a lot, so almost every time i go to a new general doctor im offered a pill for my so-called “depression”. even when i have a little head cold it seems they are trying to push a happy pill on me. sometimes i think its because they dont want to hear me complain about my health woes. dont you think its wrong for a general practioner to push these anti-depressants? my mom is a psychologist and she thinks a psychiatrist should prescribe them. what does a general practicioner know about depression anyway? besides it is frustrating because i dont know how i can flat out say that i am not depressed. i am a very happy person. and i dont like drugs. well that is my story. what do you think? why are they general drs trying to push these pills all the time?

Every medical profession has gone too far with pills – I’ve just had Pnuemonia and I was on 15 pills a day (No not kidding – two antiobiotic types, anti-nausea, painkillers………).
I’ve been on sleeping pills, anti-depressants (three kinds) and who knows what else. All I have to do is walk in and say “My problem is….” and I get a prescription!
