Not only is Afghanistan a center of opium production, it has one of the world’s most serious drug addiction problems. An estimated 1 million Afghans, out of a total population of 28 million, are battling substance abuse. For some, the Wadan Drug Rehabilitation Center in Kabul offers the last chance to kick a drug habit.

Drug addiction, alcohol education program slated
The Hancock County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services, along with the Community Partnership and Blanchard Valley Hospital, will sponsor an alcohol and drug addiction education night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Donnell Patient Pavilion auditorium at the hospital.
