Alchohol Addiction and Its Treatment
Alchohol Addiction And Its Treatment
The first day is never the worst in an alcohol treatment center. That day comes a bit later when the withdrawal symptoms begin to set in. That is when the orderlies really go to work on you. Most patients break then, but if you pull through, the only way back is deliberate sabotage on your own self.
When someone becomes a drunk, treating the problem should be the same as treating a regular disease – a chronic regular disease. You admit then into hospital, prescribe medication, and make sure that they take it. Only this time, the hospital is a rehab facility, or an alcohol treatment center, and the medication is… abstinence.
You could become an alcoholic simply because your dad or mum was one. It ain’t fair, but it is so. So if you want to break the trend, cut it off in your system before you genetically pass it to the next generation also. Quit drinking, enroll in rehab.
Most alcohol treatment centers insist that you sever all ties with the outside world while you are in. they argue that any distraction might hamper your healing process. Makes you sort of wonder if you would not have been better of in prison; at least those guys get to move around and watch TV. Well, you’re dead wrong.
You cannot walk the precipice with alcohol. It is either you are in or you are out. A lot of folks lay claim on being able to hold their liquor, but it’s only a question of time before they blow it and have rehab included in their rap sheets. With the booze, there is no half and half.
You might want to agree with me that dudes who have once been diagnosed with and treated for alcoholism cannot in good sense return to regular drinking. It’s much too dangerous to the work that has been done already in rehab. The best and only way is for them to abstain totally.
Hypnotism is one option that people are reluctant to explore for curing alcoholism. However, a few alcohol treatment centers press on with the theory and there are reported cases of it working. It might still take a while though, before the practice gains widespread acceptance.
Alcohol treatment centers are places of relative peace to the crazy environment around. This not to say that there aren’t rough moments. When an ‘in’ patient is undergoing their ‘withdrawal period’, it could get really rough. But once this phase is over, everything is relatively serene. Want a holiday?
