The Complete Detox – How Do I Know That My Detox is Complete?
There are a variety of Detox diets to choose from, and, not surprisingly, many Detox diets do not have a set amount of days to which a dieter needs to adhere. Often people, who are thinking about going on a Detox diet, wonder how and when they will know that the process is complete. When you overview the Detox diets that are available to you, you will note that some diets do list a set amount of days or weeks to follow the program. But when Detox diets do not indicate a set amount of days, how do you know when the Detox diet has served its purpose? In the case of a fasting Detox diet, there are signs to look for that show that the Detox diet has gone on too long, and it is a good idea to go back to regular healthy food.
The best answer in general to this question is to watch your symptoms and how the Detox process progresses. You will notice the first few days you feel the worst, and have symptoms including increased elimination and bowel movements, fatigue, hunger, and other unpleasant symptoms. In Elson M. Haas and Daniella Chace’s book “The New Detox Diet,” they write about the process from the first to the third day of detoxification. After the third day most dieters report that the symptoms largely go away. However, at first most people have the same reaction of some initial transitional days during which they feel “occasional fatigue, irritability, hunger and increased congestion.” The Complete Detox
After the Detox has proceeded for a few days, most people will reach a time in which it is clear to them that the Detox has been successful. People report feeling a general sense of lightness and well-being. They are no longer suffering from hunger, or weakness. When you begin to feel clear, clean and that your system is running optimally it may mean that your Detox process is completed. You can also look for clear skin, reduction of past aches and pains and major increase in energy. You will notice that you are getting restful sleep and waking up feeling calm and alert.
On the other hand, if you are doing a more extreme fasting Detox diet, it is a good idea to stop dieting if you start to experience certain signs. In the book “The Detox Mono Diet,” Christopher Vasey writes about when to urgently stop dieting. Signs he mentions include total exhaustion and depression. Sudden weight loss and loss of vitality are all signs that the Detox diet has gone on too long. An acetone odor to the breath also is a sign that demonstrates that the body isn’t breaking down fats effectively. When people begin to experience insomnia and nightmares that are recurrent, it is another sign that a fasting Detox diet has gone on for too long. The Complete Detox
