Addictions & Community Support Workers Program @ Vancouver Career College

Work in your community and support people as they kick their drug and alcohol addictions for good. The Addictions and Community Service Worker program at Vancouver Career College prepares graduates for a rewarding entry-level careers in the field of community care. The 43-week program combines theoretical and practical skills. Courses focus on psychology; fundamentals of addiction; physical effects of substance abuse; and relapse prevention. Students also study group facilitation and techniques for working with families. In addition to addictions support, the program also teaches additional community support techniques, such as dealing with family violence and special needs patients. Graduates will find entry-level work in a variety of settings, including social service agencies, correctional institutes, community mental health centres and drug and alcohol treatment facilities.
