Author and Local Cancer Foundation Announces the Publication and Presentation of a New Bilingual Fairytale Book for Children With Cancer

Author, Yolanda C. Lopez and the Princess Khrystle and Prince Michael Foundation announces the release of a poignant but informative fairytale publication about brain cancer in children.

Told through fairytale with rich illustrations, Princess Khrystle and the Monster Cancer not only tells about an emotional and physical journey of a daughter with cancer but also the spiritual power of a mother’s promise. The Promise, of course, is a pledge to share their experience with all parents and children who need a hopeful voice during times of turmoil. Encountering the experience of having a child with cancer helped Ms. Lopez understand and become more sensitive to the suffering of many children and their families.

According to the American Cancer Society’s website “Many pediatric cancers occur very early in life and many parents want to know why. Some of these cancers are the result of a familial predisposition (cancer runs in family). Radiation exposure contributes to certain types of childhood cancers. Unlike cancers of adults, childhood cancers are not significantly related to lifestyle-related risk factors such as tobacco or alcohol use, poor diet, or not enough physical activity. The cause of most childhood cancers is not known.”

Acknowledging these scary facts about cancer in children, encouraged Ms. Lopez to take action, therefore, Princess Khrystle and Prince Michael Foundation, was established to create a conscious awareness about this disease.
