I just got down here about two months ago. What got me here was that, obviously my life was unmanageable. I couldn’t really take it anymore. I grew up in a good family. My family was always good to me. I had no real problems at home. I just decided when I was 16 once to pick up crack. It eventually brought me so low that I had to end up in Florida. I never really wanted recovery. I always thought that I could use forever because that’s just my normal way of living. But I thought about it, and recovery to me is like getting a brand new car in a color you absolutely hate. You want it, but it’s not all that great. But I learned a lot where I am now. I went through Palm Partners. I learned so much from these people and the community. The best thing I’ve gotten out of this was getting a good support group. Talking to peers, hanging out with people you would have never have ever thought to be in with before. I’m happy now. I never really laughed as hard as I have in a while.
