Why Arrest People for a Marijuana Addiction? I Don’t Understand?

Question by XCZ: why arrest people for a Marijuana addiction? i don’t understand?
I’ve grown up always believing that if someone is stuck doing something and they’re having trouble stopping, and they’re addicted and actively WANT to quit, they should be put into rehab and get help. Why do they arrest you for having an addiction? what’s next, i bite my nails and get thrown in prison on a felony? it’s just not ethical if you’re a kind hearted good person, to “help” someone by ruining their life.

because it is illegal to buy and use, so you had to break law to get an addiction.
