Help! Where Is the Line With a Spouse Who Has Anger Issues One Minute and the Next Is a Good Guy?
Question by xxxxxxxxx: Help! Where is the line with a spouse who has anger issues one minute and the next is a good guy?
I asked my husband to not come home from work last Mon b/c he had spent 2 days being nasty to our son. Mon I took the kid to school sobbing, frightened, and planning his survival in the woods. Husband says he does not want to parent son or one of the teen daughters anymore-they are on their own. Told my son he would not pay for his food if he did not “wake up”. Son makes highest honors, leads his scout troop, in band, great kid if a little defiant sometimes. In general, a delight.
So tonight I’m ready to say “You were home over the wkend and nothing was different. Leave and don’t come back w/o counseling.” and he decided to give me a break, take the Mon night routine. Don’t get me wrong-this is not unusual. He goes from nice to hating us. No, he’s not bi-polar, bt he may be depressed. When do I know it is time to say “Bye!” I did not miss him….

You sound like you are not only not in love anymore; but also ready to call it quits.
Some marriages start out OK but later on turn toxic.
I am sorry for your son. He sounds like a nice kid; and he should be rewarded for being one.
