How Can Drug Users Be Expected to Make Wise Decisions?
Question by WonderingWanderer: How can drug users be expected to make wise decisions?
“Glutamate is a neurotransmitter that influences the reward circuit and the ability to learn. When the optimal concentration of glutamate is altered by drug abuse, the brain attempts to compensate, which can impair cognitive function. Brain imaging studies of drug-addicted individuals show changes in areas of the brain that are critical to judgment, decision making, learning and memory, and behavior control. Together, these changes can drive an abuser to seek out and take drugs compulsively despite adverse, even devastating consequences—that is the nature of addiction.”
I believe drug use is driving many of the decisions made in government (politicians, judges, teachers, voters, etc.) and possibly in the population at large. Some have come to the conclusion that there are many in this country that are just nuts. After reading the above, I started thinking maybe the problem is so much drug use. I’ve wondered,”Why have people become open to voting for people who have taken drugs. There was a time not too long ago that we would not do that (knowingly anyway). In the documentary of the Kennedy’s it was revealed that both the President and his wife had their own doctor supplying them with drugs.
I started out this morning thinking about the Chinese and how at one time so many of the population was addicted to Opium. (1/4 of the male population. It became such a problem that the emperor outlawed it, but British, Indians, Dutch discovered what a cash cow it was they grew it into gigantic fortunes, eventually including the U.S. There were wars fought because of it.
Some people do get hooked by their own doctors. When I got pregnant doctors didn’t think you should gain over 20 lbs. so my doctor gave me amphetamines to squelch my appetite. I had no idea what it was at the time but I thought it was great. I had so much energy for the first time in my life, I wanted to clean 20 hrs a day! Didn’t take it long but wonder if it affected my brain (and what about my babies!)
What is going to happen with marijuana use? How long will it take to find out the damage of that?

You're doctors were obviously not reputable at all! A healthy pregnancy gains from 25-30 pounds (depending on weight before).
But I skipped a lot of your question because you clearly don't know what you're talking about

People have been smoking marijuana forever and there are little to no consequences. Look at Snoop, he smokes 81 joints a day and he’s like 50. If marijuana was damaging he would not be with us today.
