Pictured here, participants from the 2003 auction, which featured 27 bachelors from all walks of life, raised more than $ 17,000 for the American Cancer Society, and earned the hospital an American Cancer Society Excalibur Award in recognition of its success.

Deborah Cox and Lane Casadonte from WTVR Channel 6 will serve as honorary co-chairs and masters of ceremony for the event. Cox, whose mother is a cancer survivor, commented, Â?ItÂ?s wonderful to be involved in an event that brings together so many people who are dedicated to this cause. The participating bachelors, sponsors, volunteers and attendees all share one thing in common: a commitment to raise funds for cancer research. My husband Lane and I share this commitment, and we look forward to helping make this event a success.Â?

Â?This event has been a tremendous grassroots fundraising effort, and we envision it becoming a signature event to benefit the American Cancer Society in future years.Â? said Amy Dodd of CJW’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Department and one of the eventÂ?s founders. Danita Bosher, Amy’s co-founder, added, Â?We look forward to the auction every year because itÂ?s a pleasure to work with people who show such a high level of dedication to the fight against cancer.Â?
