Breakdown of Sunshine Coast Health Centre, Living in Denial


Here is the breakdown for the Sunshine Coast Health Centre TV Commercial we did called Living in Denial. Sunshine Coast Health Center is a fully licensed residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program that includes addiction counselling, education, therapies for the mind/body/spirit, exercise, nutrition, and off-site recreation. SCHC asked us to concept a series of 15 second TV Commercials and a combined 30 second TV Commercial, that would bring awareness to their services on alcohol addiction. During our research we found that a large percentage of people living with partners addicted to alcohol actually live in denial of the problem also, until it becomes too much for them and they too either breakdown, take action or receive intervention. Although a majority of alcoholics attending SCHC are cases of intervention, there is also a substantial percentage that are self admitted, our client wanted us to keep this in mind when we created the spots. In order to reach as many people as possible with the concept, we decided to not focus so much on the addict, instead we focussed on the spouse, in this case a thirty something wife and how alcoholism can be a problem not only for the addict, but for the whole family. We decided to call the concept ‘Living in Denial’. In this concept we see two old friends, Sally and Julie, meeting in a coffee shop catching up on what’s been going on in their lives over the past year or so… We join them mid conversation shortly after they
