For the moment.. my plan is to get a master or doctorate in a psychology. Should I get a different degree that nets higher pay&better job availability/conditions? I’m really looking for suggestions to other fields of work that are related, but are more practical. I understand this is a personal decision but i’m hoping for some guidance, tales of experience, or flat out recommendations :)

basically I want to be a personal therapist for drug addicted youth, i’m also open to a sort of counselor for a group settings. I’m torn between that and something focused on research in the psych field. I find fulfillment in directly helping others make positive change, so I think the counselling would be the right path.
I’m expecting a lot of debt and maybe this job choice isn’t practical? Could you suggest a similar field, where perhaps I major in a different subject but end up doing the same work. One that pays more or has higher job availability?
Other majors i’m interested in are neurology, pharmacology, nutrition, and maybe nursing? It’d be really cool to nurse on the side a few days a week (i know i know high stress and **** hours but I’d be helping and making an impact on people directly) and school part time. That route would take longer with a degree. I might be able to more than minimally support myself, as well as earn experience, then it seems worth it to me.

Hi! Since there are several fields you are interested in, it may help you to read more about them, compare factors such as cost and length of education, and the job growth outlooks and average salaries for each job.
