Could Diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder Be Wrong?
Question by jessieblack2: Could diagnosis of borderline personality disorder be wrong?
My psychiatrist is excellent but I am somewhat surprised by his diagnosis. The following reasons are why I don’t think I have this disorder:
I don’t have a fear of abandonment
My relationships are stable
I’m not manipulative
However I do have the following:
Periods of paranoia around loved ones, just a general feeling of being scarily uncomfortable around them and needing to get away
Derealization
Emotional cut off from loved ones sometimes
Anxiety
Suicidal thoughts
Intense mood swings
A need to behave recklessly, but I control it
History of abandonment
Very impulsive

I have borderline also. It sounds right to me , but if you have any doubts, get a second opinion.
Sometimes we don’t fit just one disorder. We can have aspects of a disorder without having the disorder.
I wish you luck on getting clarity.

well, you don’t have to meet all criteria! i think there only some main criteria you must meet, but not all. I know it might feel weird to be labeled…
but remember we are not our labels, there just small part of who we are and who we came be.
