Crack Abuse: Punishment in Prison Part 2?

Question by Jade: Punishment in prison part 2?
Ok, this is mainly for Sinnerstar as I feel that I must voice my opinion in a more detailed manner.
Some ppl commit horrible crimes and yet they have loved ones…yes, true…but how about the victim’s family? Hmm? What about them?
“Abusing” adults? Is this what you believe is going on when someone is sentenced to prison or gets the death penalty? Abuse? So, tell me, is Caylee’s mother being “abused” in jail? Will she be “abused” when they give her the death penalty? Your misplaced sympathy for the criminal needs to be redirected to the actual VICTIM. The actual ABUSED person.
And no, I don’t believe prison rehabilitates people. It doesn’t. What it boils down to is people actually taking responsibility for their own actions. Period.
Oh my gawd, your parents divorced when you were young? Get the hell over it, so were mine.
Dear me, you were physically or sexually abused? You are hooked on crack, your parents left you alone to babysit your siblings while they went out partying? You were called names and beat around as a child? At the expense of repeating myself, I say again GET OVER IT.
These are excuses used in using the “sympathy card” and it is high time that people stop babying these punks and make them stand up and say “Ya know, I screwed up, I had the choice “I HAD THE CHOICE” and I made the wrong one.
Do you blame the gas company because you burned your finger on the stove? Do you blame the skateboard company because you broke your wrist?
You are correct, no crime is a good crime, but yes, sometimes it does make a person a monster. The worst serial killers ARE monsters. Would you feel comfortable (only if you were a male, mind you) espousing your ideals with Jeffery Dahmer over a nice cup of coffee in his house?
I know I have ranted and raved, and Lord knows this really isn’t like me, but sometimes you need you shove peoples faces in the ugliness that is called humanity and show them that it isn’t all sweet candy, teddy bears and bubbles.
Now, as to rape in prison/jail…I worked in a few men’s maximum security prisons for the state of Texas TDCJ-ID and although it isn’t always called for, there were rapes going on.
But sometimes they are.
