Desert Oasis Recovery, an Albuquerque, New Mexico Based Drug, Alcohol & Gambling Treatment Center Announces the Launch of Their New Monitored Addiction Treatment Program
Albuquerque, New Mexico (Vocus) June 19, 2009
Desert Oasis Recovery, a New Mexico in-patient drug, alcohol, and gambling addiction treatment center, one of only two privately run drug, alcohol and gambling addiction treatment centers in the State of New Mexico, announces the launch today of their new Professional Board or Court Ordered Monitored Addiction Treatment Program.
Desert Oasis Recovery Executive Director Tami Pacheco states, “When anyone goes down the rough road of addiction, especially if you are a licensed professional, it is a difficult needless to say. You threaten your life, health, family, and home life. However when a licensed professional becomes addicted to drugs or alcohol the risks escalate. When a professional such as a Registered Nurse, Medical Doctor or Attorney develops an addiction problem and that problem starts to affect their work performance or their addiction problem is so bad that they lose their license to practice the professional is normally put on written notice that they have to come and appear before their professional board. Quite often the board will make a written requirement for the professional to attend a mandatory inpatient monitored treatment program with a drug and alcohol treatment center. Our Monitored Treatment program for substance addiction is quite rigorous. Professionals enrolled in our program are closely monitored by our addiction counselors, drug screened on a random basis, and they risk losing their license permanently if they relapse.” The basics of Desert Oasis Recovery’s Monitored Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program are as follows:
1. Monitored Drug and Alcohol Rehab Treatment services are established with Desert Oasis Recovery.
2. The client completes and initial in-patient detoxification
3. The professional signs a confidential contract with the state sponsored professional recovery program.
4. The contract requires that the client undergo whatever the licensing board deems necessary of monitoring and random, computer-generated drug screens 3 to 10 times a month, depending on the severity of the client’s addiction and his/her history of compliance.
5. Each day the professional must call an 800 number, enter a code, and is told whether or not and where he or she must go give a urine sample.
6. Each week the professional is required to attend weekly group therapy meetings conducted by our trained substance abuse counselor.
7. The professional must have regular sessions with an addiction physician and 3 or more 12-step meetings a week and form a steady relationship with a “sponsor” to help advise them on recovery issues.
8. Each professional is required to identify a work-site monitor.
9. Each professional is required to work with their counselor to develop an on-going self plan to prevent relapse once their program has been completed.
States Executive Director Tami Pacheco, “As with anyone, professionals included, you want to keep your career. Seeking help is the first step. We established this program to help people save their own life, both personally and professionally.”
