For the past month or so I’ve been feeling REALLY weird. I feel depressed. I feel like everything is happening around me in slow-motion. I’m tired throughout the day even though I get enough sleep [7 hours] every night It takes an hour to relax my head and go to bed. I get scared easily. I never want to be alone. I feel like there’s something on my chest. I feel weight-downed. What’s going on with me??
Anxiety? Depression? Can I stop feeling this way? HELP !

It is possible that you are anxious about the fact that you might
be anxious its a vicious circle break it now before it becomes
a downward spiral

Sounds as if you’re experiencing symptoms of depression. There are different types of depression…clinical, manic, and the mildest form called dysthymia, which is what I have. Depression can be a disorder in and of itself OR the result of another anxiety-related disorder (panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder). This is called a “dual-diagnosis”.
The only way to know for sure, and I know people hate hearing this (hell, I did) is to go to your doctor and explain EVERYTHING you’re feeling. Do not leave anything out, no matter how embarrassing you think it might be. Having a disorder like this is soooooo much more common than people think and you should never feel ashamed/guilty about it. But you have to seek help right away. Don’t try to ignore it; I attempted this because I was in college and the pressure I put on myself while trying to survive college (and the jobs I had to pay for tuition) while the anxiety and panic heightened led to a complete breakdown in January 2000. Over 8 years later (today is my birthday, actually!) I am doing much better but anxiety is a physical illness that you will have for life. But it is very manageable if you get the help you need and learn to deal with it.
