Do I Need a Degree? Opinions Please.?
Question by Owl: Do I need a degree? Opinions please.?
Do I need a degree to counsel people? I don’t think I do. I’m not considering opening my own practice or anything, so don’t freak out. I’m sure that’s illegal without a degree and most likely no one would see me without a degree, I’m just trying to get some opinions. I believe I have the ability to counsel people without any type of formal education, kind of like a gift I guess you could say. I don’t think I need to be trained on how to advise people on life, I think I could do it on my own now successfully. If you heard good things about my “practice” but heard I had no degree would you still see me? Do you think you NEED a degree to counsel people? Help me out here folks…
How about not seeing psychotic folk but just folk who have depression, maybe someone to motivated them, or someone to just let them talk and listen to them, maybe shoot them advice here and there.

Without some formal training, maybe not a degree, I wouldn’t touch you with a bargepole, in a professional sense at least.
