Do Psychiatrists Really Help?

Question by Isabella’s Twilight: Do psychiatrists really help?
Im in the process of getting one ive needed one …well every since i was a little kid but im doing it now and i would just like to know if they really helped any?
Yeah i just hope what i say wont frighten him/her away lol

ya i guess mine has helped some. i see mine for PTSD from Iraq. it is nice to talk to someone. but my insurance pays for it. i don’t think i would continue to go if i had to pay for it myself.

Psychiatrists do help if you find one that is right for you. You should be able to express your feelings to him/her without feeling like s/he is going to judge you and shuld feel comfortable. Another thing is that you actually have to want to get better. If you go to a psychiatrist but don’t cooperate with instructions, it’s just a waste of time and money.
