Question by Mark Lopez: Doctor or engineer? Which one fits me best?
I just finished my first year of college and I did alright considering I had to work 80 hours a week to support my siblings. I wanted to major in engineering because it pays well and all they need is a masters degree, so I will be done about 25 years old. The thing is I don’t know if I truly love engineering or I’m doing it just to get out the house fast. My dream was to become a surgeon but I felt like I didn’t have a shot at it since I’m very poor and don’t have the money. It takes time and money to become one. This year is my second year in college now and my parents got a decent job and gave me the chance to go to school full time without working, with that in mind the first thing in my mind was PLASTIC SURGEON! I just feel like it is too late since my gpa was a 3.0 last year. Should I still go for it? Should I retake some of the classes I got B in and get an A? It sucks because I paid so much money to take those classes and I ended up with a B but if I have to pay again to get an A I guess it is more than worth it because that money is not going in drugs it is going on retaking a damn class. I don’t want to be 35 years old all mad because I wanted to become a doctor.

Being a doctor is hard as hell. It is hard to get into med school, there are 3 who get in to law school for every 1 that they let in to med school. Then, it is four years college, four years med school, and for plastic surgery, 7 years training after med school.
But if you know what you are getting into and you want it bad enough, then go for your dream.
If med school does not pan out, there is always dental school and oral surgeon, you can do cosmetic dental work.
