Question by dreamer: downs syndrome/autism…dual diagnosis?
Does anyone have any tips/experiences with a child with a dual diagnosis…any help/ideas/info would be great..

Contact your county and/or state board of MR/DD; there are programs, day schools, speech, physical and occupational therapist who can help; the more help you get now the better off the child will be when he/she is older….many children with such problems can learn to read, even if they are non-verbal; give the child lots of love and acceptance; do your best, treat them as you would other children but allow extra room for error/behavior; try to let him/her do as much as possible on their own, evem if you think they can’t; one day they will surprise you!
