Deputies: Drug abuse counselor charged with growing, selling pot

Catawba County deputies said a substance abuse counselor is behind bars accused of growing and selling marijuana. The sheriff’s department said Sidney Deramus had the drugs at his home in Conover. Deputies served a search warrant and said they found nearly $ 17,000 worth of marijuana and firearms. Deramus is a previously convicted felon.
