EXPLORING RUINED SAINT PETER’S

SAINT PETER’S SEMINARY, CARDROSS, DUMBARTONSHIRE, SCOTLAND The building opened in 1966, commissioned by the catholic church as a college for priests. It was closed down after only fourteen years as the number of students dwindled, and the church decided it no longer wanted to train new recruits in isolation. Part of the building was used as a drug rehabilitation centre in the mid 1980s, but since 1987 it has been lying derelict. It will cost over £11 million to make usable again. It has grade A list status so it can’t be demolished. Many see Saint Peter’s as the best example of post-war modern architecture in Scotland. In 2008 it was placed on the World Monument Fun’s 100 Most Endangered Sites.
