Had This Diagnosis for Years, Just Now Realized Why Im So Nuts… Now Im Pissed…?

Question by : had this diagnosis for years, just now realized why im so nuts… now im pissed…?
I have been diagnosed with BPD (borderline) and BP (bipolar).. i get disability bc the of bipolar… but i have come to realize that my diagnosis of BPD was actually significant and may be worse than the bipolar… for years i have never paid attention to it bc … well, first off i disagreed with it, i didnt want it and i was diagnosed more often with bipolar than that so i just assumed the doctor was an idiot and wanted insurance money..
so i was reading up on the symptoms bc i read someone mention thiers here… and the borderline fits me to a T and now im so super pissed… i just recently became comfortable with my bipolar diagnosis, now i have this to deal with?!
so basically, my question is… is it possible to have both… which one really is worse… and i have a social security review coming up also (and no i dont act crazy for teh money, in fact, i would give it up in a second for a stable life and to not be homeless constantly), but should i bring this up to teh doctor when i speak with her?
@sizzle actually contrary to your belief i am not associated with any mental health counselor (i wish i was though, but i cannot afford the copays) =( i get baker acted quite often but they have me leave after 3 days bc my insurance will only pay for so much.
so despite what you are saying, and i will check out your links also, but its the mental health field im actually trying to get INTO to get myself some help. =( but the costs are keeping me out. i hope in turn you find this useful. =)
although, sizzle, i do agree with you to an extent.. an example would be that now almost every child has asthma? just cuz a kid has tons of energy they are now all adhd? =/ that is money for doctors and they know it.

you should see another dr. get blood work done..that will either confirm or deny your problem. dont worry youll be fine. just take your meds.i know most bipolar people go off their meds at times.just do your best to stay on them.you`ll be okay!

Let me explain what both diseases are and how you got them:

1) The Borderline Personality Disorder: All personality Disorders, and there are about 16 of them known to medical science with sub categories, start in childhood and develop as a result of being abused and/or neglected as a child. And as a result, the patient learns inappropriate coping skills, adjusts poorly socially and doesn’t have the ability to function well in the world. They are always in trouble due to their behavior. However, they don’t know they have this illness and if you told them that they did, they would disagree, saying that other people make trouble for them…not the other way around.
To cure this, the patient has to undergo decades of psycho therapy to learn new life skills and give up the old, inappropriate ones. But few are able or willing to make this important commitment to their health.
2) Bipolar Disorder is an inherited disease. It effects the biochemical arrangement in the brain and effects your body’s metabolism, too. This is a life-long illness just like diabetes and requires medication to regulate it, just like diabetes. The patient will not recover form it but can only medicate the symptoms to remain normal.
One of our presidents had this: Teddy Roosevelt. Lots of famous people have it.

Which is worse? It’s a toss up. The Borderline PErsonality can be cured with a lot of effort and a lot of time but the Bipolar Disorder cannot, it has to be medically managed.
I think you are intelligent to want to understand these illnesses and your options for relief.
Yes, you should bring this up to your doctor. You are what is called in psychiatry a “dual diagnosis”.
And I know that you do not “act crazy for the money”.
What you have is serious.
I wish you all the best.
