I Am a Dual Diagnosis Member of AA. I Have 8 Years Sobriety. I Mentioned in a Recent Meeting?

Question by jesse: I am a dual diagnosis member of AA. I have 8 years sobriety. I mentioned in a recent meeting?
that I was also bi-polar. You would have thought I said I had STD. There was some very hurtful statements afterwards, and I am SURE they were aimed at me. Most said “When I got sober, I did not have depression any more.” My feelings were hurt. I thought every AA member knew about a dual diagnosis. Needless to say, I left the meeting in tears. I really do not want to go back. If I do, go back, should I try and explain? I am fighting very hard not to let this be a trigger. My heart is broken. Are there any DD people out there?

How would you folks handle this? I do not know what to do!!

That was only one meeting do not judge AA on what was said at that one. Find out where other meetings are held. There are loads of meetings. Ive been a member of AA for over 10 years. Get to other meetings. Good Luck
