Is He Living in Denial…or Is It Something Else?

Question by Julia: Is he living in denial…or is it something else?
1.) Lost several jobs one after another due to alcoholism.
2.) Lost driver’s license. His mom picks him up every other weekend to go to her house to “help” her (2 hours total). Her BF is actually the one with the money, and he is thinking of leaving her.
3.) He is doing art (not for money) it seems like for self-worth.
4.) Says he doesn’t plan to work a “normal” job ever again.
5.) Income: some from his tribe (he is part Native Amer.) and it seems his mom (or, rather, her BF) pays for anything he needs.

I’m the last one to ever say money is the absolute most important thing in life, but I am concerned that once the BF leaves, he and his mom will be devastated financially.
Not my BF. I have some money in savings, and he has an artist friend who also is very successful, and I can tell that he does WANT money, but almost feels entitled to it…

Not to sound harsh, but it sounds like mom needs to cut the cord. He needs to stop drinking and get a “normal” job.. doesn’t sound like he’ll ever do anything but live off of mommy. Is this your b/f? I’d lose him fast, otherwise he’ll start living off of you..
