Is There a Dual Diagnosis Program Available for People Suffering From Depression?
Question by gabbie: Is there a dual diagnosis program available for people suffering from depression?
I’m really worried about my friend Henry. I’ve never seen a single smile on his face since his girlfriend of three years died of liver cancer last year. He was really hurt by what happened and he’s been so depressed ever since. He normally shows a very strong and cheerful persona. He was the group’s joker. After his girlfriend’s death, he turned into this miserable young man who’d rather be locked up in his own room to drink beer and cry rivers than have fun. He even wishes to die so that he can finally be with her. I know that what he’s going through is painful but I want him to realize that he has to go on with his life. He must not allow himself to die with her. I just want to put a smile back into his face again.

It’s hard to lose a love one. You can’t blame your friend for feeling that way but you’re right. He needs to move on with his life. I think his girlfriend will be happier if she sees him happy with his life even if she’s gone. He needs to start living again. The first thing to do, I think, is to consult a doctor. Your friend must undergo a series of tests in order to identify the type or level of depression he’s experiencing. He also needs to undergo certain psychotherapy sessions and counseling to help him deal with his depression. Recent studies also show that herbal therapy maybe good for people experiencing depression. I posted some links to help you out if you have other questions. Try to convince him into receiving treatment and maybe you’ll see him smile once again.
