Lexington Center for Recovery to Expand to Rockland County
Mount Kisco, NY (PRWEB) November 28, 2007
Lexington Center for Recovery (LCR), one of the leading providers of alcohol and substance abuse treatment in the Hudson Valley, has been chosen by the Rockland County Department of Mental Health to provide chemical dependency services in two Rockland County locations. This marks the third county in which LCR will provide its services. It currently provides treatment services throughout Westchester and Dutchess counties. The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services is expected to license the programs in December.
LCR will provide chemical dependency treatment services in Airmont and in Haverstraw. Such services include comprehensive assessments; group and individual counseling; intensive treatment; psychiatric assessment and monitoring; educational group services for Latino and Haitian clients; and vocational services. Other services will include acupuncture and meditation; nutritional and health education and counseling; and daily meals. Special programs will be developed for clients diagnosed with a combination of drug addiction, alcoholism and/or mental illness and for women with children.
Adrienne Marcus, Ph.D., executive director of Lexington Center for Recovery, said that she looks forward to expanding the reach of Lexington Center for Recovery’s programs and services. “In the last 25 years, we have grown from a weekend treatment center with a staff of four to serving three counties and more than 30,000 individuals. This milestone confirms that the programs we have established are delivering much-needed help to substance abusing individuals in New York. We are looking forward to serving individuals in Rockland County, as well,” she said.
According to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, the number of adults arrested for DWI rose 65% between 2001 and 2006 in Rockland County. The number of adult misdemeanor and felony drug arrests rose 72.5% during that same time period.
LCR’s Westchester County clinics and programs are located in Mount Kisco, NY; New Rochelle, NY; Yonkers, NY; White Plains, NY; and Peekskill, NY. The agency’s Dutchess County clinics are located in Poughkeepsie and Beacon, NY. Rockland County treatment facilities will be located at 100 Route 59, Airmont and at 90 New Main Street, Haverstraw.
