The Beach with a Drinking Problem

Alcohol is illegal in Gujarat. One of the perks of being a Union Territory is that booze and associated behavior is legal for better or for worse. We had heard from numerous people that Gujarat has the highest rate of alcohol abuse in India. Not sure if it is true though.

Our guidebook said that busloads of Gujarati men come to Diu on the weekend to drink themselves blind and stagger about. Thankfully, we were there duing the week days. But we did see busloads of towns people arriving on the day we were leaving.

We only had a few encounters with drunks. One of the most uncomfortable and now hillarious was on Nagoa Beach. "How is Gujarat!? What is Gujarat!?"
