Nice “Drug Addiction” Photos

Some cool drug addiction images:

It’s Getting Dimmer

Your vision’s getting blurred
Can’t you see
Your chances of survival is getting slimmer?
Will you still walk down the road
That leads you to a giant nowhere,
A blackout that you can’t define? Yet you don’t resign.
You’re still on this mission of self-destruction.
No, you’re taking down them all, as you fall.
Are you too deafened to feel the pain in their calls?
Are you escaping? Are you a coward?
You’re giving in knowing you’ll be devoured?

It’s getting dimmer …
The glowing sun in your sky –
Now it’s barely a shimmer.
Get up! Walk! Run! Fast!
Reach the peak while the light still lasts.
You’re no slave to what you can control.
Rewrite the future, abandon the past.

To all those people who are gradually diminishing themselves into lifeless lumps of flesh with drug addiction.
I’m no wiz of words, but this is how it came out …

P.S. – no textures used. the scratch-marks on the wall were there already.

a spooky kind of maths

Shouldn´t "Summit of the Americas" and "People´s Summit" be one thing?
Just, hear it as it sounds.. just the words.
Isn´t this what maths stands? 1 . 1 = 1 ?
How can be this called a "Summit"?
What does the word ‘summit’ stands for in this context?
We suffer from a serious SEMANTIC problem,
beyond or maybe above all other social and political ones. This is serious.

Artwork as a personal reflection on what is and has been happenning regarding the "Summit of the Americas" or Cumbre de las Américas and its counter summit, the "People´s Summit" or Cumbre de los Pueblos, taken place from Nov 3 to 5 in Mar del Plata [link to my set of photos], Argentina. "Humans invented words, but don´t mind meanings." and "Human invented Maths, but don´t use them."

The echoes of the -another- sematically tricky Monroe Doctrine of 1823! ("America for the Americans" meaning the whole continent for the US) resonates with the FTAA (or ALCA) (dis)agreement.

While our country receives Bush in the context of riots, protests and violent social activism … "Stop Bush" ads wallpapering the streets of Buenos Aires… Subtes (subways) of Buenos Aires -not of Mar del Plata- take the opportunity and make a strike because they fear a terrorist attack. Mar del Plata is almost under state of siege. Local people went away for the weekend, for an "Exclusion zone" covers great part of the city -with important amount of population- and makes it impossible for them not to fear the worse (from the ‘good’ guys as much as from the ‘bad’ ones).

Diego Maradona representing a modern "Che" -he has been exiled in Cuba last years to treat his drug addiction, becoming a flag of Cuba and Fidel- is traveling to Mar del Plata, with Emir Kusturica (!) and other people from world culture… In the same train filled with piket groups, who come to be today, the activists with less social support of all. Bush arrives to a zone where he has less popularity than in his own country… (less than 40%).

Millions spent in security, transportation, fuel, advertising, hotelery, food, papers, clothing, protocol, etc… for a Summit which final documment -summary- will be already written before the presidents meet. And regarding the People´s Summit, I say the same… Millions spent, by people who is at the same time protesting and complaining and screaming for what they don´t have. For their poverty. Where all this people get the money to be here from? Meanwhile, Internet Telephony -VoIP-, VideoConference and related applications are already free services to connect people in realtime from all over the world.

I wonder… why don´t we stop it with all this… Theatre? Is this really ‘real’ and ‘serious’? Honestly, the confusion is overwhelming. IMO

Darren Aronofsky’s excellent adaptation of Hubert Selby Jr.’s Requiem for a Dream. this film is so beautifully haunting, it chills me to the bone. Aronofsky’s visual rendering of addiction emphasized through editing, pace, and tone. the parallels between recreational drug addiction and the addictions we all battle day to day (food, tv, image, etc.). and of course the score by the Kronos Quartet is so perfect it hurts.

Sara Goldfarb: I’m somebody now, Harry. Everybody likes me. Soon, millions of people will see me and they’ll all like me. I’ll tell them about you, and your father, how good he was to us. Remember? It’s a reason to get up in the morning. It’s a reason to lose weight, to fit in the red dress. It’s a reason to smile. It makes tomorrow all right. What have I got Harry, hm? Why should I even make the bed, or wash the dishes? I do them, but why should I? I’m alone. Your father’s gone, you’re gone. I got no one to care for. What have I got, Harry? I’m lonely. I’m old.
Harry Goldfarb: You got friends, Ma.
Sara Goldfarb: Ah, it’s not the same. They don’t need me. I like the way I feel. I like thinking about the red dress and the television and you and your father. Now when I get the sun, I smile.
