Parents: Do You Get Sick of Those Prescription Drug Commercials?

Question by June Cleaver Would Be Appalled: Parents: Do you get sick of those prescription drug commercials?
Uuuugh.
I wish they’d stop showing them during daytime television. Or at all, really. There’s too many of them and people just get panicky over nothing, and think they have everything or need medication for everything.

I never noticed it until the first time my 8 y/o saw a Cialis commercial while watching sports and asked me what erectile dysfunction is and was worried that she’d get it.
Now it’s everything.
“Can I get depression?”
“Do I need a birth control patch? What’s birth control? Do you take birth control pills?”
“Can I get osteoporosis too?”
“Do you have arthritis?”
“What’s cervical cancer?”

Jees, and this is a kid who doesn’t even watch much TV. I can’t imagine what she’d be asking if she was at it all the time.

Anyone else think there should be tighter regulations on pharma advertising so aggressively?
Honestly, I hate corporate America treating my kids like cash cows. I’m getting to the point where I just want to destroy the television. I’m thinking about cancelling cable and just using the money saved on that to buy things on DVD.

That is exactly what “they” want….. If our children grow up thinking theres a cure for every problem they have in a pill, theres a lot of money to be made… Look at how much they have made off of convincing adults that theres a cure for childhood(ADHD)…..
