Drinking will worsen your psychotic symptoms, as will other non prescribed drugs… weed etc.
Talk to your doctor/psychiatrist about seeing a health professional from the DUAL DIAGNOSIS MENTAL HEALTH TEAM.
These are doctors and nurses specially trained in the treatment of people struggling with psychotic illness and alcohol misuse.
As for the increase in benefits..and please don’t take this the wrong way…I doubt the government will pay you more money to fund your alcohol misuse.
Act today!
Good luck!

I’m in Australia, so know little about your benefits system. Take 3,000 mg of vitamin C daily. I am aware of advice, however, that for it to be utilised, synthetic vitamin C needs to be taken with some of the natural form, (such as the FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice of an orange) and / or bioflavonoids.
Optimise vitamin D levels, and take omega 3, niacin, & vitamin C. View my previous answer about vitamin D at http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/answer?qid=20110922214201AAVo5vI If supplementing, (the non preferred method, according to http://vitaminDcouncil.org ) use only vitamin D3.
Adopting the above may well enable you to reduce, or possibly even avoid taking medications, with their risks, and side effects. Monitor the situation closely for 6 weeks, and if not significantly improved, consult a mental health professional, as you would probably required to be prescribed an antipsychotic medication.
