Your local hospital should be able to let you know all the resources in your area.
Ask for the Social Services dept.

Most states have a state hospital for long term care for those with low incomes.
However, you should check with your local hospital or a local mental health clinic. They will determine whether he needs short term or long term care and can suggest options available for low income.
Don’t delay on this since he’s suicidal. If he’s a threat to himself or others, they’ll get him in right away.
