Promises Treatment Centers and Dr. Sonee Weedn, a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, are holding a recovery retreat October 15-18, 2009 in Malibu, California. The retreat, “Resilience, Renewal, and Recovery during Challenging Times,” will focus on holistic health through experiential learning, exercising creativity, and cross-cultural wisdom teachings to help participants renew themselves and develop and maintain resiliency in recovery.
“Although our challenges are unique to today, they are not unusual in the experience of the cultural existence of this planet,” explains Dr. Sonee Weedn. “Participants will experience multicultural traditions and apply the wisdom of the ages to today’s issues so that they can deepen their recovery process.”
Presentations will provide participants with tools for connection, creativity, and reflection. They will learn ways to access their own inner guidance and renew their spiritual connection.
The retreat will be held at Pepperdine University’s Villa Graziado Executive Center. The exceptional location nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains offers a peaceful and inspiring environment for reflection and renewal.
Albert Sombrero, M.S., a counselor and Navajo Spirit Guide, will lead healing ceremonies, including a Talking Circle, sweat lodge, White Bison teachings, Potlatch, and meditation.
Participants can also make appointments to meet with Dana Patterson, who uses her intuitive abilities to see at the core what is going on in a person’s life at a subconscious level.
Keith Arnold, Executive Vice President of Elements Behavioral Health, is co-facilitating the retreat. Keith is a nationally recognized figure in the recovery and addiction treatment community. He was previously the Executive Director of Sierra Tucson and has long been a leader in the movement for the treatment of chemical dependence, addiction, and trauma recovery.
