Rechargeable Bosch Drill Battery Care

Rechargeable bosch drill battery care

Rechargeable Nickel Cadmium (Ni-CD) batteries can and will suffer from so-called memory effect if they are not maintained correctly. If Ni-CD battery is recharged before they are fully discharged, then recharging is only partial. As a result, this lower capacity becomes the new maximum capacity. Continued partial recharging will render the battery useless. To prevent memory effect from occurring, ensure that your Ni-CD battery is fully discharged prior to recharging.

Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) batteries do not suffer from memory effect and can be recharged at any time without damaging the battery.

Please dispose of your old batteries, chargers and power tools responsibly

All new rechargeable batteries require a conditioning period before they achieve their maximum potential. This will only be achieved after the battery has been fully charged and fully discharged (cycled) as much as five times.

Rechargeable batteries work better if exercised regularly – the internal chemistry of the battery needs to be in an active state. Charging and using the tool regularly, at least once every 3 months, will help to achieve this.

The recommended temperature range for charging is 10oC – 40oC. The battery will receive a better charge and longevity if it is recharged within this temperature range. Continual exposure to high temperatures will affect the life of the battery.

If in storage, Ni-CD batteries should be stored discharged, Ni-MH batteries should be stored fully charged. A battery that has been stored for a long time may need conditioning before it regains full performance.

Avoid short-circuiting the battery pack with metal objects across the terminals – drill bits, nails and screws can do this easily within the tool carry case.

Avoid moisture and water around the battery packs and chargers.

Avoid big shocks or dropping of the battery.

It is normal for batteries to become warm during use and recharging – let them cool down prior to recharging.

Keep battery contact surfaces clean by gently rubbing them with a clean pencil eraser or cloth. Rubbing alcohol helps clear dirt and residue. Dirty contacts are a primary source of charging problems.

Hopes that help you.
