What Does It Take to Prevent Youth Substance Abuse?
Teen alcohol and drug use has long been a problem of great concern to parents, teachers, students, and community leaders. EDC’s six-year effort with 11 greater Boston communities to prevent teen alcohol and drug abuse relied on research-based strategies adapted to fit their needs. Results include measureable decreases in teen alcohol use and increased community awareness and motivation to find solutions. Several communities also received major additional funding to build on their efforts.
