Our Serial Inebriate Program (SIP) provides case management and substance abuse treatment services in lieu of custody time for chronic inebriates. The program was initiated as a problem-solving effort to reduce the revolving door serial inebriate syndrome wherein chronic, homeless alcoholics go in and out of Detox Centers, County Jail, and local Emergency Rooms for the criminal offense of drunk-in-public. SIP services include screening and assessment, non-residential substance abuse treatment, case management, housing, employment preparation and other supportive services to court sentenced chronic public inebriates as an alternative to custody. SIP is gender responsive and culturally sensitive, and offers services for clients with co-occurring disorders.
