The last thing I expected was for the first image I posted from my Nikon D90 to be a self portrait but I’ve been tagged by my good friend krazykrayons. So here goes, 15 things about me:
1. I like things to be organized and everything to be in its place. If you were to take a shoe and place it on the floor in the middle of the room, I wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing it was there. My wife is incredibly untidy. This is not good for my general mental well being.
2. I have to wake up to an alarm. When it goes off at 0530 I sit bolt upright in bed, swing my legs out and I’m ready to start the day. If I just wake up naturally I stay so groggy that the rest of the day is pretty much a write off.
3. I gave up a promising career as an officer in the Royal Navy to start a family and I haven’t regretted it for a second.
4. I haven’t had a drink for almost 2 years and there is no way of saying that to people without them thinking that you once had a serious alcohol problem. I didn’t.
5. I’m a complete gadget nerd and spend an extraordinary amount of my time geeking out over the latest smartphone operating system or DSLR specifications and lovingly caressing my iPhone.
6. I lost touch with my best friend because I didn’t agree with his decision to divorce his wife after one year of marriage. I was the Best Man.
7. I haven’t posted any images of Colt the Dog for a while because we had to get rid of him after my daughter developed an allergy to his fur. He’s gone to a good home with other doggy friends.
8. I hate horror films. My wife loves them. This means that I go to bed scared quite often.
9. I have never broken a bone in my body.
10. My idea of a perfect holiday is skiing. Being up in the mountains, getting some exercise and then spending the evening in the resort. Absolute heaven.
11. I call my parents once a fortnight to catch up. I think this is often enough. My mother would disagree.
12. I have never had an accident involving another driver. I did, however, crash my beloved 2-seater convertible into my own garage. The insurance premiums went up so high, I had to sell her shortly after.
13. I currently live in Liverpool. I want to live in Toronto.
14. I could quite happily spend the rest of my life without watching another moment of television. Take my internet away on the other hand and I’d be reduced to a gibbering, quivering wreck curled up in a ball sobbing gently to myself.
15. I love photography and I love Flickr. If it wasn’t for the community and all of the wonderful comments, I wouldn’t be half as enthusiastic.

Jenny always wished she had a normal father, the kind that didn’t drink himself stupid and then use her and her siblings as punching bags because chores weren’t done properly around the house. When he’s sober he apologizes for all the pain he inflicts, but that doesn’t stop him from drinking.
An estimated 480,000 children are mistreated each year by a caretaker with alcohol problems. Abusers who are also heavy drinkers are 8 times more likely to be violent on days that they drink and 18 times more likely on the days that they drink heavily.
