The Role of Self Discovery in Drug & Alcohol Rehab


Often when people think of alcohol and drug rehab, they think of recovering things that are lost. Join Nick, Jen, and Andrew as they discuss a forgotten but exciting aspect of rehab, discovering new wonderful things about yourself. TRANSCRIPT: Nick: A lot of people talk about this program of recovery, and I’ve actually found it to be much more than that a program of discovery. Jen: The idea of recovery is regaining things that we’ve lost, but there’s also a component of discovery, and to be able to look within oneself and find things that we never knew existed. Andrew: Before I got sober, I really had no responsibilities. At the time leading up to coming here, I wasn’t working, just no accountability and no direction in my life at all. I had no motivation to do anything, so drinking and using was what I did. Duffy’s not only provided the tools for getting my life back in order, it also helped me discover what I wanted to do with my life, and that’s help others on a professional level. Nick: I’ve finally found the person that was following me around for fifty-two years that I had never gotten to know, and that person is the person who can change. Jen: To learn things about ourselves that have been there all the time, that we just never noticed or were overshadowed by things that were destructive. Nick: I’m really finding myself. I’m not doing what I expect other people would think that I would do. I’m actually starting to speak from my heart in my art and my music. Jen
