United Way and HACAP Food Reservoir – Working together to eliminate hunger

United Way of East Central Iowa focuses on improving the community in three main areas: Health, Financial Stability, and Education. Within Financial Stability we focus on helping those that are food insecure by providing access to food and shelter. One organization that is helping us accomplish this in our community is Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP Food Reservoir). As a member of Feeding America, the HACAP Food Reservoir secures food resources from local business and the community and distributes products to area soup kitchens, pantries, senior and daycare centers, drug and alcohol treatment centers, homeless shelters and other nonprofit food programs that feed those in need.
