Upper Room Announces New Hires and BOD Members

The Upper Room, a family resource center located in Derry, New Hampshire today announced the hiring of two new program leaders and the new slate for its board of directors. Rebecca Smith was names as Greater Derry Juvenile Diversion Program Assistant; Jack Genakos was named Challenge Program Co-Facilitator.

Â?WeÂ?re very excited about Rebecca and Jack joining our team,Â? says Kimberly Bavaro, Executive Director for The Upper Room. Â?Each of them brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with young people. They have a high level of enthusiasm and energy for their roles and will help us as we continue to grow and expand our programming to more of the regionÂ?s youth.Â?

Ms. Smith, named as the Greater Derry Juvenile Diversion Assistant at The Upper Room, was formerly the Site Mentoring Programs Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester, working closely with local school districtÂ?s therapeutic faculty to coordinate on-site school mentoring partnerships. She holds a BA in communications from the University of New Hampshire and will begin working towards a masterÂ?s degree in Guidance.

Mr. Genakos, the Challenge Program Co-Facilitator, The Upper RoomÂ?s Drug and Alcohol Education Program funded by the Division of Alcohol Drugs Abuse Prevention & Recovery Program of New Hampshire will work with area youth in a group education setting. He holds an MasterÂ?s in Education and is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. The Challenge program is coordinated by the Greater Derry Juvenile Diversion Program.

The Upper Room is also pleased to announce its new board of director members and executive committee for 2004. New to the board is Lisa DiSisto, Owner of Rig-A-Tony�s restaurant in Derry, Renée Fellows, Principal of ClearPoint Marketing Communications in Derry, Rhonda Troisi, Co-Owner of Le Beaderie in Derry and Kevin Lally, Mechanical Engineer with ELDAAR � Craft Design in Derry. The newly named executive committee is as follows: Jack Briggs, PSNH, Chairperson and President; Scott Kinglsey, VP Community Bank & Trust, Vice Chair; Bill Wood, Chairman Department of Sciences and Technology for Pinkerton Academy, Treasurer; and Lisa DiSisto, Rig-A-Tony�s, Secretary.
