What Can I Do to Get Meth Addiction Help and Find Recovery?

Meth addiction is quite prevalent in the United States but other countries are catching on to this deadly drug quite fast. The reason being it is quite easy to make and in some countries there are no laws in place on the amount of Pseudoephedrine that can be purchased this drug is the main ingredient in cooking meth.

Meth or methamphetamine is a very powerful stimulant drug which acts directly on ones central nervous system. This drug is very addicting and there is an extremely high rate of meth amphetamine abuse associated with its use.

Meth is made illegally in home made meth labs. The people who make this drug will more than likely look for a secluded place but they have also been known to make it in motel rooms. That’s right the next time you are staying in a motel your next door neighbor may be cooking meth. This is very dangerous and could potentially kill many people because of the ventilation system. The people who are make this concoction probably have an addiction to meth themselves.

Meth can be purchased on the streets in powder, pill, chunks, or rock form. It can be injected, smoked, or snorted. The preferred method these days seems to be smoking meth. When one smokes this drug it affects them almost instantly and when it starts to wear off it leaves the person craving more. They will do practically anything at this point to get more meth.

How to help someone with a meth addiction

It can be very difficult to help a meth addict to want to recover from their addiction. In my opinion everyone who is involved with a meth addicted person should educate themselves about meth and addiction especially loved ones, family members, and caring friends. Knowledge if used correctly can be very powerful to say the least but can be dangerous if in the wrong hands.

It is very important to know the difference between supporting the person and enabling them. You have to learn where to draw the line do not treat them any different than you would anyone else who is not an addict.

This means setting boundaries and sticking to them; for example, do not loan them any money, give them a place to stay, or things of this nature. Sometimes for them to get the message that you are through enabling them “tough love” is needed. If you give in it will more than likely only prolong their getting some meth addiction help.

Furthermore if they get in trouble and land in jail do not bail them out no matter how much they cry and beg. They will swear on a stack of bibles that this is their last use and they are done forever. Do not buy into it! You can offer to drive them to rehab when they get out. If they want help they will agree to this. If they do happen to agree have a meth addiction treatment center lined up that you can take them to upon there release form jail.

This should be enough information for those of you who want to overcome meth and also for the ones who are trying to help them.

Good luck
