Firstly, a dual diagnosis of both autism and CDD is totally nonsensical. The only difference between them (in symptoms) is that CDD has a later onset (after some years of normal development).
Secondly; neither CDD nor autism affect life expectancy (supposed there are no comorbid health issues), so Down’s syndrome is the only factor to be considered. With modern medical care, people with DS have by now an almost normal life expectancy, i.e. they usually live into their sixties or longer. Though due to her difficulties to communicate, there is an increased risk that serious health problems go unnoticed and thus untreated. But obviously, that’s unpredictable.
