What Lessons Can Drug Addicts Learn From Treatment Programs?
Treatment Programs are designed to help get a Drug Addict get back into the main stream society and help them become a more productive member again. This is not always an easy task, but is done successfully all the time. Many times the dark shadow kicks in and most people on drugs don’t think there’s a way out.
A Substance Abuse Treatment Program not only needs to establish the needs of the Drug Addict, but they need to also address the needs of the environment in which they live so they can teach them how to adjust to his their sober lifestyle without removing them from their original environment.
A good Treatment Program should really emphasize strong family reorganization and bonding. A family who prays together stays together. Basically if someone has a Drug Problem, they need to know that other people out there really care about them and want to help them.
Most people won’t quit a bad habit because they feel why does it matter? This is especially true of Drug Addicts lacking support structure or family bonding, or families that just don’t care what happens to them. Many neglected children turn to gangs and drugs as a way of getting accepted and depend on the streets raising them.
In most cases they get taken care of to a degree, but they’ll never be stable enough to go to college, and will most likely be in and out of jail their entire lives. So a Treatment Program imho needs to outline not only why someone should be sober for life, but give them and entire action and career plan after they get out so they can keep focused and away from the negative Drugs and Alcohol environment that got them into the treatment program in the first place.
Hopefully someone involved in rehab will gain enough insight to keep them out of trouble and focused on the right things that will change their life for the better. The resources are out there for them to do this if they are willing to put out some effort and take advantage of them.
