What Should One Eat if They Have Chronic Hep C? What Should One Eat and Not Eat? What Should One Drink?

Question by Alexis: what should one eat if they have chronic Hep C? What should one eat and not eat? What should one drink?
and not drink? Can one eat right, drink right and exercises right and avoid treatments such as Interferon, and riboflavin?

My hair seems thinner does hep c cause hair loss? I’m not talking about the hep c treatment making hair come out! I’m asking if Hep C by itself causes hair loss?

All my life I’ve had extremely thick and long hair, but since March of 08 my hair seems much thinner.

i’ve been to biopsy and colonoscopys and blood tests and therapist and they say they don’t think i’m a good candidate for the treatment! That’s what the therapist said, not the GI Dr. The GI Dr. said he thinks i will get treatment after i do three months of therapy. Have not had three minutes of therapy .. What to do?

I hope someone take the time to read. I found out in March of 08 I had been a drinker .. Stopped drinking. Had a liver biopsy twice. Had a colonoscopy onece.
Then the GI DR. said, no cancer of the liver or cirroces but my liver feels otherwise.
So my GI dr. said in July to go to the therypost and don’t drink I waited for my primary care dr to get me a refferal she did nothing for the three months.
So when i went back to my GI dr after the 3 months he said “what about the theyipy? I said my pri dr never got me a theryip[ist. He got mad and said i
will get you one. Come back in three months. I went to the theryipsot one day and he said don’t come back you are not a good candidat ..for treatment.
So on the 3rd of Jan my GI DR will see i still have not had therypy.

the therapist is feeding you some wrong information. first of all, when one has mental disease, you more than likely have it because of the hcv. so treat the main cause! (hcv).
anyone can do treatment if you qualify for other pre-testing, ie, other diseases can make one not a canidate for treatment. mental disease is not one of them. ie, depression, bi-polar illness, panic/anxiety attacks. The reason being is because there are drugs that can help those issues while on antiviral chemotherapy! Most people go on antidepressants whether or not they have an issue with the mental aspect. Soooo with that being said, take this letter to your “therapist” and maybe this will explain some issues we commonly have. I had been labled just about everything prior to diagnosis and treatment. I discussed the issue with my doctor. I simply said, if I didn’t have HCV I probably wouldn’t have depression, mental fog etc…..so it would make sense to treat the root cause. I was approved. Many therapists have NO CLUE what we go through. They do not understand the disease in question either. If you have a damaged liver, it is unable to filter like it should. Thus, in return, causes toxins to enter the bbb and from there causes miscommunications with the so called “chemicals” in the brain. Not only do toxins enter the brain, but HCV virons do!
Many doctors believe that chemical imbalances happen without a reason. This is not so! I am living proof, infected at a very young age and one of the first issues was depression. Misdiagnosed and suffering for many many years….I was at least the age of 8 and didnt’ get a diagnosis until 34. I slept most of my life away. Things only got worse as I got older. It was aweful. I had fibro, hair loss, rashes amongst IBS, debilitating fatigue….other issues. I was glad to get a diagnosis. The thing is sometimes we have to take things into our own hands when it comes to health. NEVER let a doctor tell you “NO”. Thats BS. I get very upset and angry at doctors who have NO clue as to what we go through. They can’t possibly understand. If this therapist doesn’t see the TRUTH about HCV and what it causes, then my proof is NO ANTIDEPRESSANTS since about the 6th month post chemo and I FEEL GREAT. However, I do suffer brain fog- long before chemo. I do BLAME all the drugs doctors put me on because they said I was simply depressed.

Go get’em girl! Take your health into your own hands. Find a psychiatrist that will put you on the right medications and gear up for therapy!
