What to Do About My Baby’s Father….?
Question by Jane: What to do about my baby’s father….?
My story is soooo long and dramatic, so I’m sorry. I have a six month old girl. I’m 18 years old, and her dad is 19. So, we’re young parents.
He got arrested yesterday for paraphernalia (I think a police officer found a bowl in his car.) He was then sent to some kind of mental institution because he told the police officers that he was going to kill himself. He got arrested at his house (he lives with his parents.) I have no idea how long he’s going to be in this place. He’s been calling me telling me that I’m the only person he has, and asking me for help.
I got in a fight with his parents almost two months ago, and that’s a long story in itself, so I won’t go into it. I don’t like his parents because they spend so much money on pot for themselves, which in my opinion, is promoting a drug environment, and isn’t helpful to my ex’s prescription pill addiction. Plus, they have a younger child on Medicaid, and I can’t help but think that they’re abusing the system. (They’re spending $ 200+ a month on pot.) They give themselves a LOT of credit, saying that they’ve been such wonderful parents, and that they raised my ex so well, and that they’ve only ever tried to help him. They can be nice people at times, but they’ve both shown me other sides of themselves, which are pretty ugle. I’ve seen a glass door that his dad threw a TV through, and his mom called me terrible names when I was in labor with our daughter.
I feel cornered. I can’t help but feel sorry for my ex. I do love him, and I don’t want him to be homeless. But he kind of dug himself this hole that he’s in. He can’t stay with me. I don’t know what to do for him, or if I even should do anything. He called me a little bit ago and said that he hasn’t eaten in like 50-something hours because he’s “trying to die.” So, what do I even do now? Should I cut off contact from him and his family? It’s just turned into a huge mess… How can I help someone who has nowhere to stay?
